The model predicted 27 for today and King County came in at 29. Nice work model.
So, where do we stand as far as getting to phase 2. According to Inslee’s criteria, we need to average less than 10 infections per 100k residents for 14 days. Since there are 2.2 million people in King County, that means we need to average 16 infections per day. We have a LONG way to go.
In fact, even if there were 0 infections for the next week, we still wouldn’t be eligible to enter phase 2 because the average would still be above 16 over 14 days.
One of 2 things is going to have to happen:
- We wait until we average 16 or less to enter Phase 2 – the model says this will be late June at the earliest
- Inslee caves and lets King County out early
I predict option 2. The impact of this shutdown is too high for the lower-income population.
Tomorrow the model predicts 27.
