Posted by After reading plans for light rail transit in Bellevue, all I can say is kudos to Kevin Wallace. Not only did he bring fresh ideas to Bellevue City Council, but he also averted disaster, avoiding a $500 MM investment in an unnecessary tunnel.
Here’s Kevin’s plan for light rail in Bellevue. The tunnel would connect with Southwest Bellevue, and then move along existing tracks along Bellevue’s core. How efficient!

Is it worth $500 MM more for a tunnel straight to downtown Bellevue? That’s roughly$5,000 per resident of Bellevue. I can’t see how that cost/benefit works out.
